My husband and I have been vacationing in this area every year for about nine years, and we finally decided to move here this year.  This will be my first year at Arrowhead School but my seventh year as a contracted teacher.  I have taught second, third, and fourth grades.  I also student-taught first and fourth grades under veteran teachers for two semesters before getting my elementary credential.  Although I moved here from Sunland , California , a suburb of Los Angeles , my family and roots are in Colorado .

I enjoy teaching elementary school because of the curiosity and excitement of elementary students and because I enjoy teaching a variety of subjects.  I received my bachelor’s degree in English, and I also have a strong background in math and science.  Before I decided to go back to college to get my teaching credential, I attended recording engineering school and spent several years working in the music industry.  I also volunteered for 11 years at the Wildlife Waystation, a sanctuary for captive wild and exotic animals.  This is where I met my husband, Chris.

My previous school is beginning its fourth year as a Reading First school, so I have been given hundreds of hours of literacy training.  I have also completed a lot of math, science, technology, and G. A. T. E. training.  I have been teaching the Open Court reading program for six years now.

I have heard so many good things about Arrowhead’s students and parents, so I am really looking forward to this coming year.
